Philips – BioTelemetry ePatch (and Philips ePatch)

Following the acquisition of BioTelemetry by Philips Healthcare, the ePatch has emerged as the primary solution for Ambulatory Electrocardiogram (AECG) monitoring, replacing traditional 24-hour Holter monitoring studies. The Philips ePatch is specifically designed for long-term continuous AECG monitoring, also known as extended Holter monitoring, and offers several advantages over previous methods.

The ePatch by Philips is a small and convenient wearable monitor that allows for continuous AECG monitoring for up to 14 days. Its popularity has increased since the announcement of national reimbursement coverage for long-term continuous AECG monitoring. One of the key benefits of the ePatch is its flexibility in configuration, allowing customization to meet the specific monitoring needs of both the patient and the ordering physician.

The ePatch can be worn as a single-channel patch or in a multi-lead configuration, enabling 2-channel recording. Its compact design enhances patient compliance, and its water resistance allows patients to carry out their daily activities without disruption. The ePatch offers multiple lead options for recording, including a single-channel patch option and a single-channel configuration with 1 lead, which can be adjusted according to the patient’s physiology. Additionally, a 3-lead, 3-channel configuration is available for up to 5 days of continuous recording.

The Philips ePatch provides a cost-effective and clinically versatile option for medical facilities. Its features make it an ideal choice for AECG monitoring, providing accurate data over an extended period.
